What is collagen and why is it so important?
Collagen (the body’s scaffolding) is a protein which holds your skin together, keeping it smooth and tight. Collagen makes up to 75% of our skin, over 90% of our ligaments and tendons, and 35% of our bones. Other structures that are primarily made of collagen include our hair, nails and cartilage. Alarmingly, we lose 1% of the collagen in our skin each year after the age of 20. By our 50's, we've lost over half the amount of collagen in our bodies! This decline results in wrinkles, fine lines, dry, blemished and thinning skin. Nails and hair deteriorate too, and become weak, brittle and lacklustre.
Is Lumiere safe whilst pregnant or breastfeeding?
Yes, Lumiere is suitable for consumption during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
What does Lumiere taste like?
Lumiere has zero taste or odour, unlike marine collagen which often has a slight ‘fishy’ taste or odour.
I am young and don’t have any wrinkles or skin conditions. Can I still benefit from taking Lumiere?
Absolutely. Visible signs of ageing can show up even in your early years because of your life choices that impact the body's ability to produce collagen. Drinking collagen from a young age will help you maintain your youthful appearance. After the age of 20, we lose 1% of the collagen in our skin each year. Translation: wrinkles, fines lines, dry, blemished and thinning skin. You could think of collagen peptides as your beauty insurance policy!
What are the ingredients? Is it suitable for vegans?
100% pure bovine collagen – no fillers, no additives. Unfortunately, there is no vegan alternative to collagen so Lumiere is not suitable for vegans.
Is Lumiere suitable for children?
Yes, the whole family can benefit from this supernutrient.
Where is the collagen sourced from?
Not all collagen is created equal. The most important factor is molecule size as this determines how readily our bodies can absorb the collagen (and reap the benefits). Our collagen is manufactured to strict standards resulting in small peptide/molecular size for optimum bioavailability. Our bovine collagen is derived from grass fed cows and is shown to be approximately twice as effective as marine collagen.
Is the collagen hormone free?
Yes. We source our collagen from Germany which, as part of the European Union, strictly bans the use of hormones like anabolic steroids and tetracyclines. Our collagen is regularly tested to ensure compliance with European regulations.
How long will it take before I see results?
Generally, it takes 27-42 days for the skin to renew itself (the newest formed cells to reach the top). This process slows down as we age. This means it will likely take at least one month before you start to notice any differences, although our customers often notice a difference much sooner.
What will happen if I stop taking Lumiere?
If you stop taking Lumiere for a short period (say a weekend), results will generally be maintained. However, if you stop completely you will slowly lose the benefits you have gained. And nobody wants that, right?
